New content Manual Handling

Manual handling is part of everyday life in schools - from moving classroom furniture and lifting resources to supporting pupils with physical needs. Done well, it keeps everyone safe. Done poorly, it can lead to avoidable injuries, lost working time, and increased risk for pupils and staff alike.

This course is designed to give all school staff a practical, accessible understanding of safe manual handling. You’ll explore the principles behind safe movement, learn how to assess risks in school settings, and discover simple strategies that protect your wellbeing while supporting pupils effectively. Whether you work in a classroom, office, kitchen, or playground, the skills in this course will help you work smarter, safer, and with greater confidence.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is for information purposes and to train on the safe handling of heavy items, it does not qualify school staff for handling children.

This course should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
